Breaking the Ice: Life's Hard Conversations
It starts with questions about the Easter bunny, the tooth fairy and Santa Claus. It continues with questions about babies, families and friends. Life is full of hard conversations whether they are between parents and young children, grandparents and growing grandchildren or grown children and aging parents. Facing "life's hard conversations" always seems too early until it's too late. They impact us financially, emotionally and spiritually. Join us in discovering how preparing for "life's hard conversations" can help us navigate through life. Facilitated by Julia Magda and Carol Head. Located on the first floor in the Parlor.
Heart Whispers: Benedictine Wisdom for Today by Elizabeth Canham
A very accessible book study guiding readers to a daily rhythm that balances work and rest, study and play, and prayer and compassion. Discover anew what Benedictines have practiced for centuries--that life with God is a journey that grows richer and more blessed as we hear and respond to divine grace. Facilitated by Ann Smith. Book price $10.00 if ordered through the church. Also available at www.amazon.com. Located in the Mustard Seed class room on the second floor.
Breathing Underwater: Spirtuality and the Twelve Steps by Richard Rohr
A six week study of a monumental work by Christian writer Richard Rohr. In this book study, we will look at how the gospel principles in the Twelve Steps can free anyone (family member or friend or ourselves) from any addiction. Whether it be from an obvious or less obvious dependence on alcohol or drugs to the more common but less visible addictions we all have to sin. Facilitated by Tommy Perkins. Book price $15.00 if ordered through the church. Also available at www.amazon.com. Located in the Catherine Daughtery Parlor class on the second floor.
