For 200 years, Mulberry Methodist, a landmark in Macon and Georgia Methodism, has stood on the corner of First and Mulberry, worshipping and serving the Macon community. No building has ever stood on this spot except a Methodist church dedicated to the worship and service of Almighty God. Often called the "Mother Church of Georgia Methodism," Mulberry hosted the first meeting of the Georgia Conference of the Methodist Church in 1831, and was responsible for the development of many other Methodist churches in Macon. As we celebrate and give thanks for this legacy, we are excitedly looking to the future of this church as we find new ways to share the heart of God from the heart of Downtown Macon.
Mulberry has seen the Civil War, two world wars, the Great Depression, the Civil Rights Struggle and the pandemic of 1918 and 2020. We have faced many challenges over these two hundred years, rising and falling and rising again in faithfulness.
We are a church on a mission to share the heart of God from the heart of Downtown Macon, and we welcome you to come be a part of our celebrations and our family! Check our list of events to see all the ways we will be marking this momentous year.
As we celebrate the past 200 years, we are also looking to the future of this church! We are excited to dream together about what the next 200 years will hold for Mulberry Street.

Bicentennial Celebration Sunday
Sunday, April 26, 2026
During our 11:00 am Sanctuary Worship, we will celebrate Mulberry's 200 year through prayer, song, and praise.
Bishop Robin Dease, the episcopal leader of the South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church, will preach.
As part of the celebration, the Mulberry bell will be recommissioned for service after being silent for many years.

As we commemorate the last 200 years and the legacy we cherish, we are also excited to look towards the future as we find new ways to share the heart of God from the heart of Downtown Macon! We will announce plans for Fall 2026 to come together as a congregation and envision our future together.
Keep an eye out as we continue to share more about ways to get involved with our Bicentennial celebrations! If you'd like to support us as we commemorate this historic year, you can donate below.
