MISSIONS AT MULBERRY

Mulberry has a rich, longstanding tradition of mission work, both locally and across the globe, starting from our earliest days. We are called to use our gifts to serve others, offering our support for mission work through prayer, financial support, volunteer work, donations, and so many other ways.

On this page, you can find a list of Mulberry's ongoing missional work, as well as some of our community partners in mission.

MACON OUTREACH

Macon Outreach began at MSUMC in 1971. Working cooperatively with other churches, businesses, area services, and volunteers, Macon Outreach now serves over 54,000 hot, nutritious meals each year from its Downtown Kitchen to those living in poverty in Middle Georgia. Additionally 7,000 families received emergency groceries this past year. Volunteers are needed daily to serve breakfast or lunch, register clients, give hugs, and assist with providing from Mulberry’s Clothing Closet and Grocery Pantry. Macon Outreach accepts food, clothing, and monetary donations.

OUTREACH COMMUNITY GARDEN

The Mulberry Outreach garden is located at the corner of Walnut and New street. It was established in 2010 to provide fresh produce for the Macon outreach food pantry. Volunteers plant and harvest a variety of fruits and vegetables throughout the year. Fruits include strawberries, blackberries, figs, pomegranates, and grapes of several varieties. Some of the favorite vegetables are cucumbers, squash, tomatoes, peppers, okra, sweet potatoes, beans and peas. Volunteers work on Monday and Friday in the morning hours. Come by for a visit and we will put you to work!! Jane Moore 912-507-3921.

SGAUMC DISASTER RESPONSE

The South Georgia Annual Conference Disaster Response Ministry seeks to provide trained teams of people to respond when disasters occur in our region. They work alongside local UMC churches and the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) to train and prepare for disasters. Mulberry mission work with Disaster Response has included donations of goods and supplies, preparation of "flood bucket" cleaning kits, and more.

WESLEY GLEN MINISTRIES

Wesley Glen is a private, not-for-profit agency and ministry of the South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. Their goal is to increase the public awareness to the strengths and barriers related to people with mental disabilities, while being committed to providing services in a Christian atmosphere that improve the quality of life for individuals and their families.

THE METHODIST HOME

The Methodist Home provides care for children and families in need across South Georgia, including a continuum of residential care (Children's Homes), community foster homes, specialized treatment programs and counseling services to better serve our community. The Methodist Home is a faith-based organization working to better equip at-risk youth and families for the future.

MACON VOLUNTEER CLINIC

The Macon Volunteer Clinic provides free primary medical, dental and eye care to uninsured, working adults who live in our community. In March 2025, they opened their new location downtown in a building owned by MSUMC. Click here to read more about the grand opening.

DEPAUL DAYBREAK

Daybreak is a day/resource center that provides Macon's homeless population with critical services, all in one place. Daybreak Center provides hygiene, health, education, and job preparation, often bridging various agencies in Middle GA. Daybreak aims to help the homeless move toward housing stability and lives of greater dignity.
